This quick tutorial shows active ALA members how to access and download certificates for past events attended as members.
- You must be an active member to access past certificates.
- À‑la‑carte attendees receive certificates by email only—no portal access.
- Need help? Email memberservices@alacommunity.org.
À‑la‑carte (non‑member) purchases: your certificate was emailed after the event and cannot be accessed in the member portal.
Inactive member? You’ll need to renew dues before certificates are available in your portal.

Step‑by‑step: Download your certificate

1Go to alacommunity.org and click
Member Login(top right). -
2Enter your username and case‑sensitive password, then click
Sign In.
Trouble signing in? UseForgot UsernameorForgot Password. -
3If you see limited options and a red
Renew my duesbutton, your membership is inactive.
ClickRenew my duesto reactivate, then continue. -
4From your active member homepage, click
My Event History. -
5Find the event you want and click
Details. -
6On the event details page, scroll until you see
certificate(in very light gray) and click it. -
7Your certificate will download automatically. Check your computer’s Downloads folder.
Troubleshooting & FAQs
I purchased an event à la carte—can I see it in the portal?
No. À‑la‑carte attendees receive certificates by email after the event. Portal access to past certificates is a member benefit.
I’m inactive. How do I regain access?
Sign in and click the red Renew my dues button. Once your membership is active again, your certificates will be available under My Event History.
I can’t sign in—what now?
Use Forgot Username or Forgot Password on the login screen to recover your credentials.
Where do I find the file after clicking “certificate”?
It downloads automatically. Open your computer’s Downloads folder to locate the PDF.
