This quick tutorial shows active ALA members how to access and download certificates for past events attended as members.

  • You must be an active member to access past certificates.
  • À‑la‑carte attendees receive certificates by email only—no portal access.
  • Need help? Email memberservices@alacommunity.org.
À‑la‑carte (non‑member) purchases: your certificate was emailed after the event and cannot be accessed in the member portal.
Inactive member? You’ll need to renew dues before certificates are available in your portal.

Step‑by‑step: Download your certificate

  1. Go to alacommunity.org and click Member Login (top right).
  2. Enter your username and case‑sensitive password, then click Sign In.
    Trouble signing in? Use Forgot Username or Forgot Password.
  3. If you see limited options and a red Renew my dues button, your membership is inactive.
    Click Renew my dues to reactivate, then continue.
  4. From your active member homepage, click My Event History.
  5. Find the event you want and click Details.
  6. On the event details page, scroll until you see certificate (in very light gray) and click it.
  7. Your certificate will download automatically. Check your computer’s Downloads folder.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

I purchased an event à la carte—can I see it in the portal?

No. À‑la‑carte attendees receive certificates by email after the event. Portal access to past certificates is a member benefit.

I’m inactive. How do I regain access?

Sign in and click the red Renew my dues button. Once your membership is active again, your certificates will be available under My Event History.

I can’t sign in—what now?

Use Forgot Username or Forgot Password on the login screen to recover your credentials.

Where do I find the file after clicking “certificate”?

It downloads automatically. Open your computer’s Downloads folder to locate the PDF.
